How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
~Romans 10:14-15
One of the most exciting mission opportunities we have here at Christian Fellowship is our India Ministry. For the past three years, Pastor David has traveled over to India to minister at Orphan’s Faith Home and a pastor’s conference for Indian Christian pastors. We are privileged to be able to support such a ministry.
Pastor Babu is the man who was given the vision for the salvation of southern India. An orphan in the Dalit caste, he was adopted by Finnish missionaries as a child, educated, and raised up in the Lord. As a young man, Pastor Babu was walking along the road to town when he saw two babies abandoned in a field. The Lord told him to go back and get the babies ad bring them home, even though he had no food for them at home. When he arrived home, his wife informed him that 2 bags of rice fell off a truck passing by the house; there was food for the children. Thus Orphan’s Faith Home was born.
The orphanage currently houses about 300 children. These children are provided with shelter, food, clothing, medicine, education, and most importantly, a knowledge of Jesus Christ. The orphanage is funded by American Christians. Pastor Babu has to turn away hundreds of children a year due to a lack of finances. $30 a month covers the expenses for one child.
Several years ago Pastor Babu had the idea to host a conference for Indian Christian pastors. He wanted to provide teaching and Bibles for pastors in his region. In 2004 he held the first conference with 600 pastors. Pastor Ricky McGovern went over for that first conference, and immediately thought of bringing Pastor David back with him. In 2005 and each year since, Pastor David has gone over to minister to 1,300, 2,000, and 3,500 pastors, respectively. These men spend a week listening to intense teaching and receive a Bible in their own language (which most do not have). $25 covers the cost of one pastor to travel to the conference, his food and shelter, and his Bible.
We are so fortunate to be involved in this ministry. Your support of this ministry brings the Gospel to thousands of Indian Christians through the pastors who attend the conference and take the messages back to their churches.
Many of you have heard of the intense persecution of Christians in southern India recently. Because of this, it is more important than ever to be in prayer for and raise money for these pastors. Some have been martyred, their wives taken and their children sold into adultery. Some have had their homes and churches burned to the ground.
We ask you to consider the following commitments on behalf of these families:
-
• Pray for the pastors, their families, and their churches, and for Christians all over India enduring this persecution in Jesus’ Name.
-
• Consider supporting this ministry financially. Every dollar raised for India goes to the orphanage or the Indian pastors - there is no overhead or “administrative” costs. Every dollar raised goes directly to ministry support. If you would like to donate now, click the Donate button below to be taken directly to our secure Paypal page.
